  11. Here is a list of some important files and directories on this disc.

  13. setup.exe             Installation program for Windows (95 & 3.1).

  15. utils\w32view.exe     File Browser for Windows 95, Windows NT, and Win32s.
  16. utils\w16view.exe     File Browser for Windows 3.1.

  18. qrz.exe               The MSDOS callsign lookup program.  You can also run
  19.                       this directly from the DOS prompt by switching to
  20.                       your CDROM drive and typing 'qrz'.

  36. Quick Start Instructions:
  37.  
  38.   Windows 95/NT 4.0:
  39.     You can install the program icons by selecting the "Start" menu and
  40.     choosing "Run".  At the Run box, type: "D:\setup",  assuming 'D' is
  41.     your cdrom drive.
  42.  
  43.   Windows 3.1/NT:
  44.     Go to "File" menu under program manager and choose Run.  At the
  45.     Command Line box, type: "D:\setup", assuming 'D' is your cdrom drive.
  46.     This will install a group folder with icons for this cdrom.
  47.  
  48.   Macintosh:
  49.     Double click on the file QRZLookup.sea.bin, and select your desired
  50.     location for installation from the dialog that will appear.  A folder
  51.     named "QRZ Lookup" will be created containing the QRZLookup application.
  52.     For more information on the QRZLookup program, see the read_mac.txt on
  53.     the cdrom.

  57. Using the 00_INDEX.HTM:

  59. We have included 00_index.htm files so the user may use a Web browser
  60. to view our disc.

  62. In order to view this disc using these 00_index.htm files, point your
  63. Web browser to the root level 00_index.htm file.

  65. For example, in Netscape:

  67.   1. Click on "File"
  68.   2. Click on "Open File"
  69.   3. Choose your CDROM drive
  70.   4. Select the 00_index.htm file

  80. The 00_index.htm files have been tested under Netscape 3.0 (Windows,
  81. Macintosh, and FreeBSD), and Internet Explorer 3.0 (Windows).

  87. To make browsing the disc easier, we have included the program WinView
  88. for Windows on the CDROM.  This program allows you to page through index
  89. files, browse through directories on the CD, view documentation and
  90. uncompress/install the program(s) you want onto your hard disk.

  96. Email Address Database QRZ was born on the Internet and is today one of
  97. the most popular amateur radio Internet sites anywhere.  Over the past
  98. year, we've been collecting the email addresses of amateur radio
  99. operators from around the world.  Now, for the first time we are able
  100. to share them with you as a component of the main QRZ database.  There
  101. are over 146,000 e-mail addresses contained in the callsign database.
  102. The email addresses are displayed right along with the regular callsign
  103. data, whenever they are available.  You can make online updates to your
  104. email address at:

  124. More Digital QSL Cards

  126. Our collection is rapidly growing and now includes over 6500 digital
  127. images.

  129. It's easy to add your favorite photo, QSL card or other image to the next
  130. QRZ CDROM and have it associated with your callsign using any of the
  131. methods below.  If your image is already in .jpg format (400x300 max) then
  132. you can send it to us via email (as an attachment) to:

  140. We prefer .JPG formats and will convert your image to .JPG format if
  141. necessary.  We reserve the right to reject any image that we feel is

  151. Your card, floppy, photo, etc., will not normally be returned to you.  If
  152. you must have your copy back, then please include a self addressed stamped
  153. envelope (SASE) with your letter.  Scanning at QRZ is generally done in
  154. batches so it may be a few weeks before it appears on the Internet and
  155. several months before it hits the next CD.

  157. Callsign Database Updates
  158.  
  159. We now have listings from USA, Canada, Australia, Argentina, Austria,
  160. Mexico, UK, Italy, Turkey, Monaco, Brazil, Portugal, Cuba, Taiwan and
  161. miscellaneous listings from everywhere.  Since the introduction of
  162. our online DX callsign registration form, we've begun to take on
  163. hundreds of new, exotic callsigns each month.  We're still looking
  164. for more DX callsign databases, and you could qualify for a free
  165. subscription to QRZ for helping us obtain more countries.  For more

  168. Note: Neither QRZ or Walnut Creek CDROM edits or updates the FCC
  169. callsign data.  If the U.S. information contained in the QRZ Ham
  170. Radio CDROM is incorrect for any callsign, all corrections must be
  171. done directly with the FCC.  The easiest way to do this is to fill
  172. out a Form 610 and send it to the FCC.  The master database at QRZ
  173. (http://www.qrz.com) is updated daily with the latest FCC information
  174. available.
